What
I do is to start by investigating the website I
will potentially be doing SEO work for. There
are cases when it really isn’t feasible to SEO
a website because of one of several different
factors. That could be the fact that the website
is template based and not one that can have
keyword usage improved among other things. The
website may be running in frames (Not Good) or
using a heavy dose of Flash or JavaScript.
I am sure that any SEO expert you talk to will
give you their thought on what is and what isn’t
important. What I try to do is just to think of
the end user. The person that is most likely
going to be trying to find your website. That’s
where you start. Forget all the tricks. The
bottom line is that your website needs to have
good content and be a website where people can
actually gain something by visiting it.

I should begin by saying that any company or individual that offers to do SEO for you should tell you how they do it and everything they are going to do to bring your website up in the rankings. There shouldn’t be any secrets about how SEO is performed, and there are never any guarantees on how high of a ranking one can achieve.
I still get a couple of phone calls and emails a month from people or companies offering to put my website at the top of search engine results within hours or days. If you get the same offers block the sender of the email or hang up the phone and run as fast as you can as there just isn’t any possible way that someone could do that for you. It’s also a good idea to investigate their website. Surely if they are as good as claimed, then their own site should be at or near the top of search engine results. It’s definitely a good idea to ask to see their portfolio.
SEO involves hours upon hours of hard work investigating keywords, pouring over results and statistics, and trying to develop a winning strategy for your client. Then comes link trading. Unfortunately link trading is a necessary evil and can take up more time than the actual development of your website.
SEO just involves what I have
mentioned above and you must be relentless with it. The
harder and smarter you work, the better the result.
I don’t claim to be an SEO Expert however I do have
the most important thing of all. The will to put in the
necessary time and effort into the job so that the
website I am working on goes to the top and stays there.
You must work harder than the competition.
